Overview

Callout Games is a road trip gaming app developed by SamSha Studios. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data the app collects, how it is used, and your rights regarding that data.

The short version: All your game data stays on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. We do not sell data. We do not track you.

Data Collection & Storage

What the app stores — ON YOUR DEVICE ONLY

Game session data: Trip logs, sightings, scores, milestones, achievements, and session history for all game modes.
Player profiles: Player names and avatar colors you create within the app.
App settings: Your preferences for voice, location, screen, and gameplay options.
Active player selection: Which player profile is currently active.

All data is stored locally in an SQLite database on your device. No data is transmitted to any server, cloud service, or third party.

What the app DOES NOT collect

No account creation or login required
No email addresses, phone numbers, or personal identifiers
No analytics or usage tracking
No advertising identifiers (until ads are integrated — see Advertising section)
No data is shared with third parties

Permissions

Microphone

The app uses your device microphone for voice recognition — the core gameplay mechanic. Voice input is processed on-device using Android’s built-in speech-to-text engine. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted. The microphone is only active when:

You tap the voice button, or
Always-on voice mode is enabled in settings (you control this)

You can disable voice features entirely in settings. The app functions fully without microphone access.

Location (GPS)

The app uses location services for:

License Plate Game: Auto-stamping GPS coordinates on sightings (city, county, state)
Mile Marker — Nearby Mode: Finding trivia questions about landmarks near you
Mile Marker — Road Trip Mode: Auto-triggering questions as you pass real landmarks

Location data is stored only on your device as part of your game sessions. It is never transmitted to any server. You can deny location permission and still use all game modes except Nearby and Road Trip modes.

Foreground Service (Notifications)

The app uses a foreground service to keep voice recognition and game tracking running when the app is minimized or your screen is off. This shows a persistent notification with a pause button. You control this through normal Android notification settings.

Internet

The app does not require an internet connection to function. Internet access is used only for:

Google Play in-app purchases (Pro unlock)
Future ad delivery (free version only)

In-App Purchases

Callout Games offers a one-time Pro unlock ($2.99) through Google Play Billing. Purchase transactions are handled entirely by Google Play. SamSha Studios does not process or store any payment information.

Advertising

The free version of Callout Games may display advertisements provided by Google AdMob. Ads may use device advertising identifiers as governed by Google’s advertising policies. The Pro version removes all advertisements.

You can reset your advertising identifier or opt out of personalized ads through your device’s Android settings.

Data Export & Backup

The app includes an export feature that saves all game data to a JSON file on your device. This file is created by you, stored locally, and shared only if you choose to share it (e.g., via email or file transfer). SamSha Studios has no access to exported files.

Children’s Privacy

Callout Games is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since no personal information is collected from any user, no age-specific data handling applies.

Data Deletion

All app data can be deleted at any time by:

Using “Clear All Data” in the app’s settings, or
Uninstalling the app from your device

Since no data is stored externally, uninstalling the app permanently removes all data.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
